#WritingWednesdayAC: thanksgiving week 1
This next series of #WritingWednesdayAC, we’re gonna spend a few weeks talking about thanksgiving. Yes, I know it’s mid-May. Yes, Thanksgiving is 6 months away. But thanksgiving is about much more than gathering around a turkey with relatives you only talk to once a year. It’s an attitude, it’s a posture, it’s a lifestyle.
Well, how does one develop an attitude of gratitude? Maybe you’re in a season of your life where everything seems bleak and the light at the end of the tunnel is so far away you can barely see it. Step one: focus on what you have.
I want to challenge you today: write down 10 things you’re grateful for. They can be small, they can be big, but write them down. If this is easy, then keep writing! If this is hard, start by taking a breath. I promise there are at least 10 things in your life you can choose to be grateful for, pause and look around you right now. Maybe I can give you a head start: your body, your mind, your health, your family, your home, even simple the air that fills your lungs.
Your attitude is your choice. You might not be able to control what happens to you, but you can control what comes out of you. Let’s take baby steps together and practice thanksgiving.
