#WritingWednesdayAC: the legacy you leave
Last week we were talking about our life-songs, this week I wanna touch briefly on legacy. Your life-song is the overflow of your heart, the tune of your life. So what will be the legacy that lives on after you?
I was reading about a man who was described as "a man of good heart and good character...who lived in alert expectation of the kingdom of God." His name was mentioned briefly in the story, but what touched me was the way that the author talked about who he was. We don’t know what his job was. We don’t know what his title was, or what his accolades were. But we know that he was of good heart, good character, and he lived a life expectant of the good that was to come.
It got me thinking about what kind of legacy I want to be remembered for. This answer is different for all people, but I hope this encourages you. You have people that are watching your life, whether you know it or not. I was encouraging a friend last week, and she told me that I am the “most encouraging person she knows.” I don’t say this to brag or show off, but it struck me. Every time I interact with someone, I make a point to encourage them. I want to live a life that leaves a legacy of encouragement. I want people to leave my presence and feel uplifted and reinvigorated with passion and worthiness.
What do you want your legacy to be? I want to encourage you today to tell someone. Maybe write it down and send it to them or talk it out. Inspire someone else. What do you want to leave behind?
