#WritingWednesdayAC: prepare your heart

Hi friend!

I can’t believe it’s the week before Christmas! Less than 1 week away! I’m sure many of you have prepared as much as you possibly can: all the gifts are wrapped and you’ve grocery shopped and you have your stocking stuffers ready to go. But have you prepared your heart?

What does Christmas mean to you? What are you looking forward to the most? Is it seeing the look on other’s faces when they open your gift? Is it the meal you’ll sit down to together? Do you have special family traditions that you spend all year waiting for? Make sure you spend some time preparing your heart to sit back and enjoy those moments!

Let’s take that a step further and talk about 2019. The new year is just 2 weeks away, friends! Let’s spend time reflecting on this past year. I do this by making a list of each month and writing out milestones from each month. They can be events, breakthroughs or revelations I had! After I reflect on the past year, I compare the year to my “word” and I pick a word to focus on for the next year. What’s the “word?” Each year, I pick a word that I’m going to focus on and that I’m believing for that year. I stole this little activity from a friend in 2016 and it’s my favorite part of preparing for a new year!

hold fast

In 2018, my word was “hope,” reminding myself to not lose my hope in Jesus. I’m making my word for 2019 “hold fast.” (technically 2 words but it counts!) I’m believing for expansion in all areas of my life. From the promises of Hebrews 10:23:

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

In 2019, I’m going to encourage myself to remain planted and stand firm in what I believe. What’s your word? Whatever you’re believing for, we believe the best is yet to come!
