#WritingWednesdayAC: writing for your mental health

Hi friend!

Today I want to talk about a very important topic: self care.

Self care is more important than we realize. Most of us think of self care as a bubble bath once a week or a spa day once in a while, but what is something you do everyday that is just for you? I once heard a mental health professional say that you should have something you do once a year, once a month, and once every day that is all yours.

When I heard that, I was shocked. Everyday?! How am I supposed to fit in something for me when I’m busy writing emails and making phone calls and trying to be a girl boss? Well, that’s where writing actually helps. Studies show that writing everyday (even a quick journal entry to sort your thoughts) improves mental clarity and awareness, improves our communication with others, and heightens productivity and focus levels to help us reach our goals! I mean, the benefits alone make writing worth it!

It’s proven that writing everyday is vital for our cognitive function. So, who are you writing to today?
